Adding a New Owner or Partner
To add a new owner or partner to a previously registered business you will follow the same guidelines and use the same form as when registering a new business. You will file four (4) copies of a Certificate of Trade Name showing the name(s) and addresses of both the original owner(s) and the new owner/partner. The word "Amended" will appear at the top of each certificate as well as the original Bergen County file number. All copies must be notarized and bear the original signatures of all owners.
Whether filing by mail or in person you will receive two (2) copies back, one stamped "filed" for your records and the other stamped "certified copy" which your bank will require in order to add the new owner/partner to your business account.
