Petitions and Ballot Position forms for Countywide and Local offices can be obtained at the County Clerk's office Election Division, at your local Municipal Clerk's office, or by clicking on the links below. Please call us at (201) 336-7020 for more information and to determine how many signatures will be required on your petition.
NOTICE TO CANDIDATES: All candidates are required by law to comply with the provisions of the “New Jersey Campaign Contributions & Expenditures Reporting Act.” New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission (NJELEC) has instituted mandatory electronic filing. Go to ELEC’s web–based report filing system. If you have any questions regarding mandatory electronic filing, please call (609) 292–8700 or 1-888-313-ELEC (3532) and speak with a member of the Compliance staff.

As our office remains closed to the public, Petitions for County Level, Independent and November School Board of Education may be dropped off by appointment or electronically submitted. Please call (201)336-7020 to make an appointment to drop off petitions or email them to electionsclerk@co.bergen.nj.us .

Effective immediately as a measure to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, candidates can now obtain signatures electronically on a nominating petition. Please be advised that they are only supplemental signature pages. A candidate/designee will still need to complete all of the required pages in the Petition (i.e. Certificate of Acceptance, etc.) All of the statutory requirements will remain the same. The State has published helpful tutorial videos of how to use the Electronic Signature Pages on their website linked here: www.state.nj.us/state/elections/candidate-information.shtml.
