Registering a New Trade Name
The form used to register a Trade Name is known as a Certificate of Trade Name. It can be obtained from the County Clerk’s office or by clicking on the link above. You may file a Trade Name by mail or in person at the County Clerk’s office. If you register by mail, you must submit four (4) copies of the Certificate of Trade Name. All four must bear the original signature(s) of the owner(s) and be notarized.
Whether registering by mail or in person, you will receive two copies back, one stamped "filed" for your own records and the other stamped "certified copy," which your bank will require to open a business account in your new business name.
